For over twenty years, The Nick has been recognized as the dark, dirty little secret on Birmingham’s southside. At first glimpse, the building can be a bit intimidating because of its rugged shack like appearance. It is the music that has made The Nick a mainstay in the Birmingham club scene. Once inside, however, this shack creates a life of its own. After a few moments of sheer darkness and your eyes have begun to adjust, you will find some of the coldest beer in town with some of the most intriguing personalities on both sides of the bar. Before you know it, you will feel right at home.

The music heard almost every night of the week include local, regional and national acts. The diverse acts add to the appeal of an evening at The Nick. One can hear blues, rock, punk, emo, pop, country, metal, bluegrass, rock-a-billy, roots rock or whatever your genre of choice. The Nick has had it all. It is an upclose and personal room voted three times in a row as Birmingham’s best live music venue by Birmingham Weekly.

Over the years, The Nick has seen and done it all. Bono and Adam Clayton (U2), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Creed, Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty), Jo Jo (Widespread Panic), Jack Black (Actor/ Tenacious D), Dave Attell (Comedian), Natasha Lyonne (Actor/American Pie), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and some “Famous” Folks we didn’t recognize have all visited The Nick during their stay in Birmingham.

If you are looking for a quiet night out, you had better arrive at The Nick early. The music begins around 10 p.m. and does not stop until around 2 a.m. The Bar, however, seems to never close. If you wish to see the best original live music around, the “next Rolling Stones” or just looking to participate in the rock-n-roll lifestyle for a few hours, take a nap and plan on staying up late because you might just miss something. Live the dream...Sleep tommorrow.
