In 1991 in Rome, Georgia three bands emerged on the music scene that had the potential to grab national attention. The forward-thinking leaders of these groups arranged a multiple band showcase at the Berry College Ford Theater to expose each fan base to the other bands. Brett Warren led the Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic, and PHISH influenced ensemble Mr. Pelican Pants. Sean McCormick rallied his Pink Floyd and progressively inspired Uno Ya. Adrian Ash stored the state with furious talents of “Epitome”. Eventually each group went on to play the bar circuits of the southeast and the stages of festivals, ultimately opening for numerous national acts before finally disbanding. All the while, Adrian, Brett, and Sean had forged a friendship and musical partnership that continues to this day. Initially, the trio went by the name “Kermit’s Ride” and played college festivals and bars in Rome, Chattanooga, and Atlanta before distance and other life pursuits would separate them for a time. Sean graduated from Berry College with a degree in Music Business and has played in Uno Ya, Hard Rain, and Johnny Jumped, all of which toured tie Carolina’s extensively. He has studied all forms of percussion and is a master of trap kit drums. His playing has opened for Blue Oyster Cult, Blackfoot, Kansas, and David Lee Roth. Bret has played guitar, piano, harmonica, violin, and saxophone for several touring bands in the south including Mr. Pelican Pants, Guava Jelly, and Catnip. From 2001 until 2003, Bret taught music in East Long Island, New York. His group Catnip was broadcast in live performance every Friday night on Long Island Cable Television from the world famous “Stephen’s Talkhouse” in Amgansett, New York. His teaching led him to lead clinics in guitar with such notable players as G. E. Smith of Saturday Night Live. His playing has seen him open for Grammy Award winners Eddie the Chief Clearwater, Sam Carr, and Frank Frost. It has allowed him to meet Widespread Panic, the Allman Brothers, Little Feat, the Radiators, The Aquarium Rescue Unit and more. Bret currently lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Adrian Ash has studied and plays multiple instruments, primarily drums and bass. As a member of the Refried Beings he brings formidable bass skills with jazz, blues, and rock inspiration. With Anonimo he wields time on the drums to their Latin and rock influenced band. With the Adrian Ash Group, you may find Adrian on percussion, drums, or bass, along with Atlanta’s finest Jazz players in an unbelievable display of passion and talent. Adrian lends his bass skills to the inventions of his bluegrass comrades ABarnrat Review. Adrian’s prodigious talents have seen him open for Estradasphere, Stuck Mojo, laldiga Vecinda, Kaizer Soze, and Threat 13. Adrian currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. The Refried Beings to be reunited in 2004 and have enjoyed playing in Atlanta, Rome, Rockmart, Dahlonaga, and Chattanooga. They have a set list that includes over a hundred covers by artists that most bands would be afraid to attempt because of the level of difficulty in the music. In addition, the Refried Beings have numerous live recordings (which catalogue their sixty some original songs) ready for distribution as well as various recording projects awaiting completion. Their sound has drawn the attention of major players like John Whiley of Parliament Funkadelic, and they have been described as one of the best undiscovered bands in the South.
