Birthed from the loins of Kyle
Campbell's imagination and smacked to life by a great rhythm and string
band, The Bearded took its first breath on the WDVX Blue Plate Special
in January 2005. However, the original seeds for The Bearded were planted
years earlier on a front porch in Knoxville,TN.
Kyle Campbell alias "Red Beard" writes songs, sings and plays multiple instruments in this ensemble. (Mandolins, guitar, dulcimer, horns, kazoo and banjos.) He's also the designated driver.
Phil Pollard alias "Lincoln Beard" plays the marching snare, sings, and plays all the bells and whistles. He likes to perform barefoot.
Matt Morelock alias "Old Dirty Blonde Bastard Beard" plays clawhammer banjo, sings, plays ukuleles, guitar, jaw harps and he owns a volvo. He'd wear a banjo on his head if he could.
Chris Zuhr alias "Black Beard" rocks the upright bass which makes him the most important member of the band. Watch out! He just might spit whiskey on you.
T.J. Jones "Dr. Beard" plays jug, washboard, sings and is just downright entertaining. He plays with spiders and likes rollerskating.
Marty McBrearty alias "Beardy Spice" plays harmonica. He always leaves some green on the scene. Because he handles millions of dollars.
